As someone transitioning into a new industry, it is vitally important to network and gain contacts. You may think that this is difficult to do but really it is quite easy. Check local facebook groups, meetups, and local universities and colleges and you are sure to meet some interesting people who can give you valuable information. It is by growing your network that you will be able to get clients and make your web development journey profitable. You may also get the most valuable resource of all, a mentor. A mentor is someone who is experienced in the industry and can guide you through the difficult process of learning a new skill and then applying it in a job environment. I am a big supporter of the mentorship process and believe it provides value for both parties.
I encourage everyone to get out there and network and take advantage of all the benefits it can offer!
